The 1962 Coalgate High School football team — which was the outstanding team since the undefeated team of 1956 — is being recognized for their season record of nine wins, two losses and a tie.

Braedy didn’t allow a single run against Caney, throwing a complete game shutout and leading Coalgate Wildcats Varsity to a 5-0 victory. The Wildcats got things started in the first inning when Breana Hale doubled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run.

Read moreIn the district game 2, freshman pitcher, Zane Wilkerson, took the win on the mound for Tupelo, 20-1, pitching 3 innings and throwing 5 strikeouts. Offensively, Zane had 2 hits and 3 RBIs. Junior, Cody Airington, backed him up at shortstop.
Read moreThese two ladies, happily holding the district plaque, helped the Tupelo Lady Tigers to a 18-4 win over Coleman in the district finals. Carli Cox hit two homeruns in that game and Kylee Watson hit one, a grand slam. They were not the only power hitters in the tournament: Ava Sliger also hit a home run and Maci Gaylor grand-slammed in the Coleman game. Raylee Jones had a grand slam in the first game against Stringtown.
