Mr. Lanoy was born June 28, 1943 to Clemo and Bertha (Thompson) Lanoy at Coalgate and passed away January 11, 2023 at Coalgate at the age of 79 years, 6 months and 14 days. He attended Eastside Coalgate Schools. Alfred served in the National Guard. He started working at Smith’s Grocery Store at a young age and pumping gas for Ridley’s Gas Station until he met Pauline Lolli who hired him to work at Red’s Grocery. Pauline was like a second mother to Alfred. She and her son, Nick were both special to Alfred. When Pauline sold Red’s Grocery, Alfred decided to go to work on the pipeline and see the country. He pipelined with his son, brother-in-law and nephew until he retired in 2005.

Alfred married Janice Iola Vick on November 23, 1966 in Coalgate. They were married 56 wonderful years. Janice said she always picked him because he made her laugh and Alfred knew everyone. Alfred was a faithful member of the Olney Baptist Church and loved their youth group. He enjoyed camping and fishing on Boggy at Olney. Alfred was always the camp cook and he told everyone many times how he taught Janice to cook when they got married. He credited himself for her turning out to be such a good cook.
