Funeral services for Elizabeth Ann (Watson) McEntire, a Shreveport, LA resident, were held Saturday, February 19, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. at Brown’s Funeral Chapel in Coalgate with Pastor Lyle Shipley officiating. Burial was in Cairo Cemetery with arrangements under the direction of Brown’s Funeral Service of Coalgate.

Mrs. McEntire was born August 7, 1947 to Talmadge and Oliver (Jenkins) Watson in Springhill, LA and passed away February 12, 2022 in Shreveport, LA at the age of 74 years, 6 months and 5 days.

Elizabeth graduated from Watson Chapel High School in 1965 and was a homemaker. She married John Matthew “Matt” McEntire, Sr. on June 18, 1966 in Pine Bluff, AR. They were blessed with 55 wonderful years together. Elizabeth was of the Baptist faith and had a fantastic sense of humor and her family will miss her laughter. She loved reading, crocheting and helping make clothes/ costumes for her grandkids. Her grandchildren were her greatest joy!

Survivors include her husband, John Matthew “Matt” McEntire, Sr. of Shreveport, LA; daughters, Melissa McEntire Cook and husband Sidney E. Cook, Jr. and Stephanie McEntire Gingles, all of Shreveport, LA; son, John Matthew McEntire, Jr. of Mobile, AL; grandsons, Sidney Earl Cook III of Houston, TX, John McEntire Cook of Shreveport, LA, John Thomas Gingles of Camp Lejeune, NC, and Tucker McEntire Gingles of Shreveport, LA; sisters, Ginny Warren and husband Calvin Warren of Florence, MS, Patricia Hall and husband Robin Hall of Russellville, AR, Linda Maraman of Cherokee Village, AR; brothers, Lester Watson and wife B. B. Watson and James Watson and wife Carla Watson all of Vicksburg, MS; aunt, Barbara Jenkins Lee of Stonewall, LA; brother-in-law, Steve McEntire and wife Vicki McEntire of Mansfield, AR; sister-in-law, Cleo McEntire of Wardville, OK; along with numerous nieces, nephews and many dearly loved friends.

Elizabeth was preceded in death by her parents, T. G. and Olive Watson and brother, Larry Britt Watson.

Casketbearers were Sidney Earl Cook III, John McEntire Cook, John Thomas Gingles, Tucker McEntire Gingles, L. C. Darling, Jack Shirley and Scott Hall. Honorary bearers were Paul Hooe, Matt Hooe, Terry Kimsey, Tony Parker and Harry Tunnel.

Donations may be made in memory of Elizabeth to the Vasculitis Foundation or the American Cancer Society.
