Funeral services for Gayla Pauline Burleson, a lifelong Atoka resident were held Wednesday, (today) January 24, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. at Brown’sFuneralChapel in Atoka with Rev. Larry Beach officiating. Burial was in Stringtown Cemetery with Brown’s Funeral Service of Atoka in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Burleson was born November 22, 1967 to Thomas J. and Wanda (Basham) Robinson at Atoka, OK and passed away January 20, 2024 at her home in Atoka at the age of 56 years, 1 month and 29 days. She attended Stringtown and Atoka PublicSchoolsandthen went on to attend Para Professional School. Gayla married Teddy Ray Burleson August 4, 1984 at Atoka. They celebrated 39 years of marriage before her passing. She was a housewife and homemaker. Gayla was of the Pentecostal faith and was a member of Gospel Lighthouse in Tupelo. She enjoyed quilting, camping, fishing, cruising on cruise ships, thrift and garage sale shopping and loved taking care of her kids and being a nanny to her seven grandchildren.

Survivors include her husband, Teddy Ray Burleson of Atoka; mother, Wanda Christian of Atoka; sons, Brandon Burleson of Atoka, Justin Burleson and wife Melissa of Lane and Dakota Burleson and wife Codi of Atoka; daughter, Mary Elrod and husband J. W. of Stringtown; father, Tom Robinson of Oklahoma City; sister, Rebecca Beach and husband Larry of Tupelo, OK; grandchildren, Cydney and Nathan Burleson of Atoka, Traycen and Kylee Burleson of Lane and Kaci, Raylee and Jasper Elrod of Stringtown; along with nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear and loved friends.

She was preceded in death by her stepdad, Gilbert Christian; brother, Tom Robinson, Jr.; paternal grandparents, Cecil and Annie Ethel (Boone) Robinson and maternal grandparents, James and Mattie Basham.

Casketbearers were Justin Burleson, Dakota Burleson, Brandon Burleson, J. W. Elrod, Bo Burleson and Eric Morris. Serving as honorary bearers were Traycen Burleson, Nathan Burleson and Jasper Elrod.
