Odessa Mae Farmer
Funeral services for Odessa Mae Farmer, a lifelong Stringtown, Oklahoma resident, will be held Friday, September 15, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. at Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church in Stringtown with Bro. Brad Bradford officiating. Family night is Thursday 6:00 to 8:00. Burial will be in Mt. Olive Cemetery in Stringtown with Brown’s Funeral Service of Atoka in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Farmer was born July 12, 1923 to James Arlie and Zemma Jewel (Williams) Wilson at Bruno, OK and passed away September 10, 2023 at Coalgate at the age of 100 years, 1 month and 29 days. She attended harmony School and was a housewife and homemaker. Sh also worked in shipyards in California as a torch hand. Odessa married Lonnie Ray Farmer Sr. October 21, 1939 at Atoka, OK. They celebrated 55 years of marriage before his passing in 1994. Odessa was a longtime member of the Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church; a member of Eastern Star, and active member and founder of Stringtown Senior Citizen’s Center.
Survivors include her son Lonnie Ray Farmer, Jr. and wife Ida Helen of Stringtown, OK; grandchildren, Karen Angeline White and husbandDonaldofVenus, TX, Denise Roxann Bell of Keller, TX, Jennifer Lynn Farmer, Lonnie Ray Farmer III and wife Sarah all of Coalgate; great-grandchildren, Eric, Emily, Kyle, Spanial, Jamie Stepp and husband Josh, Abigail Stevenson, Adyson Stevenson, Shakota Ray Farmer, Harlee Farmer and Alex Seth Farmer; great-greatgrandchildren, Jason Reed stepp, Callie Greenberg and Luke Greenburg; close family friend, Jason McGuire of Stringtown, OK; brother, J. D. Wilson of Atoka, OK; sister, Maxine Thompson and husband Bill of Arlington, TX; along with nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends.
She was preceded in death by her parent, James Arlie and Zemma Jewel (Williams) Wilson; husband, Lonnie Ray Farmer, Sr.; brothers, Kenneth Wilson and Enos Wilson; and sisters, Loretta Cook and Jenny Lou Lane.
Casketbearers will be Johnny Wilson, Terry Snow, Ronnie Bell, Layton Gossett, Roy D. Dodd, and Howell Magby. Honorary bearers will be Daniel Peel, Sr, Paul Howard, J. D. Brady, John Wayne Farmer and Wayne Edgar.
