Our sympathies extended to the families of...

Funeral services for Anna Maria Thomas-Hopson, a longtime Atoka, OK resident, were held Saturday, August 13, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Atoka with Bro. Jesse Markum officiating. Burial was in Green Hill Cemetery in Atoka with Brown’s Funeral Service of Atoka in charge of arrangements.

Ms. Hopson was born October 13, 1964, o Frank Thomas and Elisabeth Frazier at Coalgate, OK and passed away August 1, 2022, at Oklahoma City at the age of 57 years, 9 months, and 19 days.

She graduated from Atoka High School and went on to receive her Associates Degree in Early Childhood Teaching from Murray State College in Tishomingo, OK. She went on to have a 25-year teaching career at Atoka Headstart and INCA and driving the bus. She later held several different management positions in the food and hospitality industries.

Anna attended Bethel AME and Old Path Baptist Church and was a fiercely dedicated and caring mom, daughter, grandmother, sister, and friend to all her loved ones. She had an infectious smile that went perfect with her great sense of humor. Her outgoing personality and her loving spirit made her an absolute joy to be around. In her free time Anna enjoyed going to the casino, reading her Bible, talking on the phone, decorating her home and staying home and playing Bingo with her mom. She also enjoyed traveling and going on trips with her girls, Charlotte, Tyra and Carolyn.

Survivors include her children, Erik Hopson, Thaao Hopson and wife Taime, Rose Hopson and friend Clarence Minor, all of Atoka; grandchildren, Talina, Taniyah, Tayanna, Iyanna, Acelyn, Erik Jr, Squoa, Vanity, Judah, Isarel, Ja’dymond, and Jalygheil; mother, Elisabeth Frazier of Atoka; step-mother, Virginia Thomas

of Spencer, OK; siblings, Dany Hopson and wife Melissa of Atoka, Barbara Polk of Sherman, TX, Arthur Janelle Hopson and wife Shawna of Mesquite, TX, Kunta Nelson, LaTisha Thomas, Franchesca Thomas, Evelyn D. Smith, all of OKC and Dennis Gay of Ardmore, OK; uncles, William Thomas, Jimmy Frazier, Bobby Frazier, and wife Joan; special friends, Charlotte Harrison, Tyra Harrison and Carolyn Crooms; along with numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends.

She was preceded in death by her father, Frank Thomas Frazier; father of her children, Robert Nichols; daughter, Dominique Hopson; brothers, David Hopson and Anthony Jones; grandparents, Rosa and Curley Frazier, Elridge and Cora Lee Thomas; special friend, Chyrale Butler; aunts and uncles, Kalip Frazier, Lorenzo Burris, Bertha Harrison, Charlie Coulter, Lorene Alexander, along with numerous aunts, uncles and other relatives.

Casketbearers were Gerald Bowen, Dantreyus Hopson Clarence Minor, Lucas Brooks, Brandon Crooms, Jordan Harrison, John Henry Davis, Derik Hopkins, and Mike Shields.

Honorary bearers Ja’dymond Bland, Ja’lygheil Minor, Judah Hopson, Israel Hopson, Eric Hopson Jr., Nathan Hopson, Zantreyus Hopson, and Kyrie Hopson. Flower girls were Charlotte Harrison, Tyra Harrison, Carolyn Crooms, Carla Brooks, Eldreida Crooms, Valarie Menifee-Dollar, Jackie Richards, Pam Riley, Sonya Shields. Honorary flower girls were Kosima Hopson, Brittain Posey, Jarian Hopson, Isante Hopson, Whitney Codgell, Danyell Hopson, Dominique Hopson, Kiara Hopson and Zay Hopson.
