Our sympathies extended to the families of...

Funeral services for John Benedict were held Wednesday, August 17, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. at Brown’s Funeral Chapel in Coalgate with OHP Chaplin Sam Garner officiating. Burial was in Coalgate Cemetery with Brown’s Funeral Service of Coalgate in charge of arrangements.

Johnny Edward Benedict, a Coalgate resident, was born on March 23, 1944, to Johnnie and Jacqueline Alice (Lout) Benedict, at McAlester, OK. He passed away on August 12, 2022, at Coalgate, OK at the age of 78 years, 4 months and 20 days.

Johnny graduated from Hartshorne High School then attended Eastern Oklahoma State College in Wilburton. He was an Oklahoma Highway Patrol Trooper retiring after 28 years of service. Johnny served in the National Guard and the Army where he received the National Defense Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. He married Carolyn Ann Guinn on March 3, 1967, at Haywood, Oklahoma. They were blessed with 55 wonderful years together. Johnny was a member of the Adamson Baptist Church. He was a 32nd Degree Mason. Johnny enjoyed hunting, fishing and

gardening.

Survivors include his wife, Carolyn Ann Benedict of the home in Coalgate; sons, Johnny Edward “Eddy” Benedict Jr. and wife Shonda of Roff, OK, Robert Melton “Robby” Benedict and wife Pamela of Stonewall, OK and Mark Allen Benedict and wife Laura of Coalgate, OK; grandchildren, Matt Benedict and wife Alayna of Latta, OK, Abigail Sasseen and husband Conner of Lawton, OK, Brady Benedict of Roff, OK, Jaxie Wilson of Ada, OK, Hailey Benedict of Coalgate, OK, Carson Benedict of Stonewall, OK, Sayde Benedict of Coalgate, OK and Harper Benedict of Stonewall, OK; great-grandchildren, Bryar Benedict and Evelyn Rose Sasseen; along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and many dearly loved friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Johnnie and Jacqueline Alice (Lout) Benedict; daughter, Danna Carol Benedict; sister, Nancy Faye Arnold; and Special aunt, Anne White.

Casketbearers were the OHP Honor Guard.
