Regina Kay Baker, a Coalgate resident, was born on March 19, 1951 to Little Ike Standridge I and Ruby Maple (Coffee) Standridge in Martinez, California. She went to be with her savior on September 7, 2023 at Integris Baptist Hospital, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
Regina married Danny Kay Baker on December 24, 1967. They enjoyed 56 years of marriage. Regina was a member of the Church of Christ. Regina attended elementary school in Stratford, California, Central Union in Lemoore, California, Coalgate Elementary, and Cottonwood Elementary.
She attended Junior High School at Rattan Junior High, Rattan, Oklahoma, and then to high school at Coalgate High School (Class of 1968). She attended Byng LPN school, Gordon Cooper Technology and became a Healthcare Administrator through an Oklahoma University program. Regina worked at Valley View Regional Hospital (now Mercy Hospital) for numerous years, she then became a nurse for Dr. Michael Hunsaker in Ada. In 1979, Regina became a nurse for Drs Troska, Morgan, Johnson, and Paddack (Ada Internal Medicine). She worked primarily with Dr. Jerry S. Morgan for many happy years. In 1993, Regina formed Southern Oklahoma NurseCor and NurseCor of Oklahoma Home Health. Regina also fostered special needs children for 14 years.
After retiring from nursing, she began doing private nursing and contract sitting services through Ray of Sunshine. When her body began to fail her, she finally retired and became a home maker. Regina was selfless and gave care to any and everyone she could help. Regina loved animals and enjoyed many hours watching her indoor and outdoor fur babies frolic and play. She spent many hours listening to music and reading her Bible. Regina loved her family and friends with her whole heart. Every member of her family and extended family were made to feel special. Her happiest moments were being at home with the love of her life. Regina and Danny were one and partners in every way.
Regina is survived by her husband, Danny, of the home. She and Danny have one daughter, Lawana K. Baker Berge Wiggen and son-in-law, Dr. Todd C. Berge Wiggen of Weatherford, Oklahoma and one grandson, Joshua C. Wiggen of Weatherford, Ok.
She is also survived by sisters-in-law, Margarette Standridge of Coalgate, Betty Standridge, of Hanford, California, Linda Standridge of Coalgate, and Jahree Standridge of Coalgate; Nieces and Nephews: Elaine Prince Rice, Darlene Prince Crabtree, Kathy Dwiggens Irwin, Gina Nichols Thrasher, Lori Nichols Perez, Debbie Standridge Souza, Sandy Standridge Curtis, Paul Standridge, Joe Standridge, Sam Standridge, Barbara Standridge Cruze, Little Ike Standridge III, Angie Standridge Cano, Teresa Standridge Gonzolez, Robbie Standridge Weathers, Billy Douglas Standridge II, and Rachel Standridge Hall; along with 53 Great Nieces and Nephews, and an every growing group of Great Great Nieces and Nephews; Numerous cousins and friend; Special Cousin-In-Laws: Jim Carter and Debra Carter West; Lifelong Friend: Letha Fullbrigh; Her “Golden Girls” Anita, Linda, and Janice; Special Friend and Helper: Clint Strothe; and Bonus Daughter: Julie Jackson.
Regina was preceded in death by: Parents, Little Ike Standridge and Ruby Maple Coffee Standridge; Mother-In-Law, Golda (Goldie) Ruth Carter Baker; Father-In-Law: John C. Baker; Sisters, Christine Standridge Prince and Husband, Harol, Francis Standridge Dwiggens and Husband Van, Ruth Standridge Nichols and Husband Gene; Brothers, David Standridge, Fred Standridge, Ike Standridge, Charles (Charlie) Standridge, Bill Standridge, Infant Brother James Joe Standridge; Nephews: Glenn Prince, Billy Don Prince, Frankie Prince, Tommy Dwiggens, Wayne Standridge, Don Standridge, and Doug Standridge; Niece, Paula Irwin; and Foster Child, Paula Luna.
Services were Monday, September 11th at 2:00P at Browns Funeral Chapel under the direction of Wendell Ingram and burial followed at McCarty Cemetery.
Pallbearers were David Ramer, Cameron Prince, Randy Carter, Bruce Carter, Will Prince, Dylan Standridge, Dalton Standridge and Craig Standridge. Honorary Pallbearer were Jerrod Hall, Tom Crabtree, Jim Carter, Bill Larecy and Anthony Martinez.
