Service held for Cherie Ann Farris
Funeral services for Cherie Ann (Leaird) Farris, a lifelong Coalgate resident, were held Monday, November 26, 2018 at 10:00 a.m at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church with Father Higgen officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of Brown’s Funeral Service of Coalgate. Family night and Rosary was held Sunday night.
Cherie was born June 16, 1946 to Floyd and Yvonne (Roberts) Leaird at Coalgate and passed away November 22, 2018 at Coalgate at the age of 72 years, 5 months and 6 days. She attended Lehigh and graduated from Coalgate High School in 1964. Cherie also attended East Central University graduating with a Bachelors degree in 1971. She taught Middle School civics, history and English for almost 30 years at Coalgate. Cherie married Harry E. Farris in February of 1964 in Sherman, TX. She enjoyed working in her yard, gardening, sports, playing volleyball and softball. Her greatest joy was spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a member of the Blessed Sacrament Church in Coal-gate.
Survivors include her husband, Harry E. Farris of Coalgate; daughter, Kim Farris and fiance Bob Burnett of Ochelata, OK; sons, Jim Farris of Taft, OK and Justin Farris and wife, Monaca of Coalgate; sister, Lanette Lambert and husband Joe of Coalgate; brother, Allen Leaird and wife Sherry of Coalgate; grandchildren, Tyrell Ayres of Bartlesville, OK, Farris Ann Ayres of Salt Lake City, UT, Zane Farris of Tahlequah, OK, Luke Farris of Taft, OK, Aidan Farris of Atoka, Macy Farris, Jagger Farris and Myca Farris, all of Coalgate; great-grandchildren, Ava Ayres and Wyatt Ayres, both of Mustang, OK; along with numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Paul Leaird and Larry Leaird; and niece, Brandi Eller.
Casketbearers were Tyrell Ayres, Zane Farris, Luke Farris, Macy Farris, Michael Lambert, Jaggar Farris and Farris Ann Ayres. Honorary bearers were Steven Hughes, Gary Vaughn, Jonah Barnett, J. D. Colbert, Kent Howe, Joe Lambert and J. D. Voto.
