Service Thursday for Gary Wayne Dority

Funeral services for Gary Wayne “Donk” Dority, a Coalgate resident, will be Thursday, August 29, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at Brown’s Funeral Chapel in Coalgate with Pastor Eddie Hogue officiating, assisted by Pake McEntire and Johnny D. Ward. Family night will be Wednesday evening 6:00 to 8:00. Interment will be in McCarty Cemetery with Brown’s Funeral Service of Coalgate in charge of arrangements.

Gary was born December 29, 1955 to Evert “E.D.” David and Nellie Mae (Ellison) Dority and passed away August 24, 2019 at Coalgate at the age of 63 years, 7 months and 26 days. He attended school at Cottonwood and

Kiowa. Gary was a heavy equipment operator for Coal County for 22 years, retiring in 2018. He was a member of the Cottonwood Baptist Church and enjoyed riding the back roads looking for deer, rodeos, country music, fishing, rainy days and spending time with family and friends and a good dip of Copenhagen snuff.

Survivors include his sisters, Linda Franks and husband Arlis of Coalgate, Sherri Harkins, Alica Lowe, both of Tupelo and Edith Clayton of Coalgate; along with numerous nieces, nephews and dearly loved family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, James Dale Dority.

Casketbearers will be Ty Ward, Travis Cole, Darrell Morgan, Lanny Hedgecock, Bobby Wardrope, Joe Bob Courson, Nick Lee, Mark Sandmann, Tommy Wood, Roger Hedgecock, Kerry Lowe and Shane Cagle. Serving as honorary bearers will be Pete Thomas, Clark Rhyne, Coby Scantlen, Pake McEntire, Harry E. Farris, Alvin Cagle, Randy Ward, Clay Mowdy, Rusty Lankford, Johnny D. Ward, Jim Cox, Les Pebworth, Ronnie Palmer, Eddie Roebuck, Steve Byrd, Wes Ward, Stan Ward, Jay Ward, Danny Ward, Roy Ward, Benny Ward, Bobby Ward, Jerry Lansdale, Bill Weathers, Rick Chaney, Gary Vaughn, Ashton Cagle, Gavin Cagle, Charlie Krebbs, Jim McNutt, and Dearl Ingram.
