Tupelo Police Report
Intoxicated driver
lands in jail after
trying to outrun
officers
A Moore, OK woman was taken into custody the afternoon of September 15 following a high speed pursuit that began at the SH 3/48 intersection near Tupelo and ended a mile and a half past Stonewall.
Tupelo officer Christian Minyen said when he heard on the radio about a possible reckless driver headed toward Tupelo on SH 3, he advised Coal County dispatch that he would get in position to watch for the black Chevrolet Cruze.
It wasn’t long before a black Chevrolet stopped on the roadway, he said, and the driver was trying to wave other stopped traffic through the flashing light at the intersection.
Deputy Ethan Fomby advised Minyen to stop the vehicle for the safety of the public. The driver evidently had other plans. When Minyen attempted to initiate a stop, the vehicle accelerated at a high rate of speed. Reaching speeds in excess of 95 mph, the vehicle continued west on SH 3 and then pulled over about a mile and a half past Stonewall.
Fomby arrived on scene, conducted a felony stop on the vehicle and placed the driver in restraints. The woman was unstable on her feet and failed a field sobriety test. She declined a blood test and was transported to the Coal County jail.
During Price’s initial court appearance without legal representation, the Court entered a plea of not guilty on her behalf to misdemeanor driving while under the influence of alcohol and attempting to elude a police office plus a citation for reckless driving. She is scheduled for a return court appearance on September 28 with bond set at $2,500.
Price’s address was changed from Oklahoma City to Moore, OK on the Initial Appearance Order.
