Wanda Ruth Mowdy passes away

Wanda Ruth (Campbell) Mowdy, age 90, a longtime resident of Coal County, passed from this life peacefully at her home on November 16, 2018. She was born in Mulberry, Arkansas, on October 10, 1928 to Chester and Martha (Lewis) Campbell. She married James F. Mowdy on December 25, 1947 in Saticoy, California and shared a life together for 59 years. He preceded her in death on September 17, 2006. In 1963 they moved their young family from California to Coal County Oklahoma where they established the Bar M Ranch. Wanda loved her family and especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren who shared their “Grannie Wanda” with many others.

Wanda is survived by daughters Linda Strunk and husband Guy of Coalgate and Brenda Reed of Coalgate; sons, James G. Mowdy and wife Donna of McAlester and Albert L. Mowdy and wife Agnes of Coalgate; brother Jessie Campbell and wife Beverly of Cameron Park, California; and special friend and care giver, Susie Latham of Atoka; nine grandchildren; thirty-two great-grandchildren along with numerous relatives and many dear and loved friends.

Preceding her in death were her husband; parents; three brothers and three sisters.
