Burn ban remains in effect

With no drought relief in sight, Coal County remains under a fire ban. That means no burning of any kind is allowed.
The Board of County Commissioners on Monday proclaimed that extreme fire danger still exists in the county. The current ban is in effect until Monday, October 3.
Enforcement of a burn ban may be carried out by any law enforcement officer of the state. Any person convicted of violating a ban is committing a misdemeanor and is subject to a fine up to $1,000, imprisonment up to one year, or both fine and imprisonment.
Stay safe — don’t take a chance on burning trash or setting any kind of fire until the current fire danger conditions have ended. It’s not worth the risk!
