Service to be held for Jim Reed

Jim Edmond Reed, a Pauls Valley resident, passed away April 23, 2024 at Pauls Valley, OK at the age of 78 years and 8 days. He was born April 15, 1946 to Ross and Bessie Beatrice (Hughes) Reed at Pine, OK. Jim completed the 8th grade at Pine School, then graduated from Coalgate High School. He served in the U. S. Army Reserves during the Vietnam War. Jim was a printer. He married the love of his life Peggy Jean Smith on June 22, 1968 at the First Baptist Church in Coalgate. Peggy spotted him across the school yard and said “That’s the one for me!” The rest was history. Together they had three beautiful daughters and a wonderful life together. Jim and Peggy celebrated 55 blessed years of marriage before his passing. Jim liked fishing, quail hunting, camping and a good game of dominoes He loved spending time with his family.

Survivors include his wife, Peggy Jean Reed of the home in Pauls Valley, OK; daughters, Cindy Gammons and husband Jarrod of Ada, OK, Susan Hart of Purcell, OK and Penny Cantley and husband Dustin of Guthrie, OK; grandchildren, Jessica, Jacob, and Cody; greatgrandson, Graysen; brothers, Alva Reed and wife Doris, George Reed and wife Linda and Logan Reed; sisters, Kerma Parrett and husband Bob and Myrtle Liles and husband David; sisters-in-law Nancy Jo, Emma Reed and Brenda Reed; along with numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ross and Bessie Beatrice (Hughes) Reed and brother Calvin Reed.

Services will be held at a later date.
