Michael Reece Golden

Funeral services for Michael Reece Golden, a Caney, OK resident and lifelong Atoka County resident, will be held Wednesday (today), May 8, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. at Brown’s Funeral Chapel in Atoka. Burial will be in the Golden Family Cemetery in Caney with Brown’s Funeral Service of Atoka in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Golden was born October 19, 1956 to Donald Reece and Phyllis Marie (VanConett) Golden at Coalgate, OK and passed away May 5, 2024 at his home in Caney at the age of 67 years, 6 months and 16 days, surrounded by his loved ones. Michael graduated from Caney High School with the class of ‘75 and was a welder and saw mill operator.

He married Beth Ann (Rector) June 9, 2000 at DeQueen, AR. They celebrated nearly 24 years of marriage before his passing. Michael was of the Baptist faith. He retired from the Caney Fire Department. Michael enjoyed fishing, his favorite was noodling, was an avid hunter, was a professional instigator and loved pestering his family and friends.

Survivors include his wife, Beth Ann Golden of the home in Caney, OK; children, Heather Middleton and husband, Scott of Bentley, Lindsay Sutton and husband Steven of Dodd City, TX, Tamra Eagleberger and husband Dustin of Harmony, OK, Stevi Tarbet and husband Ashton of Bentley, OK and Taw Griggs and wife Heather (501) of Atoka; grandchildren, Andi and Ayden Middleton, Dawson Brawdy, Harlee Duncan, Finley Sutton, Kaylee Sutton, Savage and Tinley Tarbet, Ridge, Alayna and Spencer Griggs; brother, Kenneth Roy Golden of Caney; sister, Linda Greer and husband Roger of Sawyer, OK; along with nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Phyllis Marie (VanConett) Golden; sister, Julie Whitt and husband Jack; maternal grandparents, Mancille Lavern and Lucill (Cullen) V a n C o n e t t ; and paternal grandparents, Granvill G. and Ella Joy Golden. Casketbearers will be Ashton Tarbet, Scot Middleton, Dustin Eagleberger, Steven Sutton, Ayden Middleton, Dawson Brawdy, Hunter Mills, Emery Bagby, and Wesley Eldridge. Honorary bearers are Randy King, Marty Ratcliff, Kevin Holstine, Curt Isenberg, Phil McDaniel, Kenny Doshier, Steve Walker, Frog Watson and Jerry Don Burkhalter.
