He led the Wildcats to two stunning upsets in the 1955 state playoffs by upsetting Colbert 54-51 in spite of All-Stater Arlen Clark who finished with 32 points. Jimmy countered with 33 by scoring 12 field goals and nine free throws to lead the Wildcats to the stunning upset.

Officer Christian Minyen, a Choctaw Lighthorse Police Officer crosscommissioned with the Coal County Sheriff’s Office, stopped Kirby’s Honda for having a border plate that obstructed the top part of the tag.
