Service to be Held for Tupelo Graduate Norrene Leona Marie (D’Aguanno) Stevens

Funeral services for Norrene Leona Marie (D’Aguanno) Stevens, a Tupelo resident, will be held Saturday, April 12, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. at Brown’s Funeral Chapel in Coalgate with Pastor Larry Beach, Brad Tisdale, Bryer Martin and Pastor Roger Brown officiating. Interment is pending. Arrangements are under the direction of Brown’s Funeral Service of Coalgate. Family night is Friday 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. The family request everyone wear Norrene’s favorite color which was purple.

Tupelo agriculture instructor charged with child sex crimes

A warrant has been issued for the arrest of a Tupelo School teacher accused of committing child sex crimes. Coal County Sheriff’s Deputy Steven Jett states in his probable cause affidavit that Superintendent Kevin Mann advised him on February 13 that the suspect, 32-yearold Tyler C. Frizzell, had been suspended with pay pending the outcome of the investigation.

1985 Coalgate Wildcat football team — a force to remember!

Congratulations to the 1985 Coalgate Wildcat Football team that will be inducted into the Coalgate High School Hall of Fame May 24th at 5:00 p.m. The ‘85 team deserves this honor as they finished the year with an 11-2 record and a trip to the Class A State Quarter Finals. Their record with the offensive and defensive accomplishments makes it one the best teams in Coalgate history. The Wildcat team was made up of 15 seniors, 6 juniors and 9 sophomores. The Wildcat coaches were Stan Addy, head coach, and Troy Byrd, Gary Hummingbird and Joe Clifton assistant coaches.
