So, it was on Tuesday the 2 . Since we do not have any real groundhogs, here in Allen, such as Punxsutawney Phil, I thought I would watch the yard closely on Tuesday. What could I watch for? I have a busy crowd of gophers, moles, and armadillos. I supposed that if I saw one peeking out to see his shadow, I would just shoot it. But none came out. Not sure his shadow would have scared him anyway. For sure, I have not done any good scarring any of them. Not even my resident skunk that boldly strolls around my yard. I do not pay him much attention anymore either. Such is life here on Lee Street in Allen. And it was a sunny morning.

It was there I started paying attention to Christmas. But like some other materialistic folk my age over there, I was really concerned with the season for Christmas gifts. I always liked coming over and visiting the twin’s family, especially those many years ago when they lived here at Allen. They had two boys (among their many assorted children) about my age. I did receive some worried attention from the Ray family about my being skinny. But I felt like I was OK.

I have an ancient Box Elder tree in my back yard but alas, someone asked me one day what kind of tree it was and that was when I first noticed that its name had left me. Names of old friends—they came and went. But mostly I get by cause if I forget your name down at the post office, relax. It will come to me after I get home. Which brings me to another subject: Computers.
Read moreI do not know just how this is all going to work out. I saw the “Mighty Mustangs” on the cover of the Advocate last week. They looked capable but I must admit I didn’t recognize many of them. Well a few perhaps. Last season was our 100 year to play football and by now we ought to be getting it down pat. Also, last year we sprang off to this real happy 100 start only to see some key players injured and taken out of the picture. We ended the season outside the playoffs something — we have a chance to fix this 101 year.
