REUBEN JACKSON BURGE will celebrate his 90 birthday on May 14. He was born in 1932 in Coalgate, OK to Reuben (Rube) and Velma Burge. He served two years with the U.S. Army at Ft. Carson in Colorado Springs, CO and then Ft. Sill in Lawton, OK as a Corporal in the 3 Section A Battery of the 537 Field Artillery Battalion Unit. The Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma honored him as September Veteran of the Month in 2021. He and Betty have been married 70 years and have two children, Sharon Hedrick of Coalgate and Stephen Burge of Allen. Reuben has always enjoyed work on the farm raising cattle and a garden. It is not unusual to see him driving the tractor to pick up hay bales, despite protests from family. He enjoys helping others and his sweet and quiet demeanor is a blessing to family and friends.
