Funeral services for Barbara Ann Parsons, a Durant resident, formerly a longtime Atoka County resident, were held Friday, August 19, 2022, at Brown’s Funeral Chapel in Atoka with Rev. John Reuben Clemmestsen officiating. Burial was in Fields Cemetery in Porum, OK with Brown’s Funeral Service of Atoka in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Parsons was born July 21, 1943, to Joseph Dickson and Wilda Elizabeth (Hardin)Walden at Ft. Worth, TX and passed away August 8, 2022 at Durant, OK at the age of 79 years and 18 days. She attended school in Ft. Worth and Atoka and graduated from high school.

Barbara was a housewife and homemaker. She married Roy Sam Mattoon Parsons on January 1, 1963, at Lubbock, TX. They celebrated 49 years of marriage before his passing on July 29, 2012. Barbara was a member of First Assembly of God in Atoka. She enjoyed embroidering on plastic canvas, reading her Bible and spending time with her family.

Survivors include her daughters, Marion Bicknell and husband Jimmy of Atoka, Elizabeth Parsons of Denver, CO, and Sammie Maxey and husband Ronald of Durant, OK; grandchildren,

Jeremy Burris of AR, Alicia Burris of Lehigh, OK, Shawn Edwards, Crystal Edwards, both of Atoka, Whitney Williams, Lashana Williams, Rihanna Williams, all of Denver, CO, Charles Bayles and wife Ashlyn, Clarence Bayles, both of Atoka, Wilda Smith and husband Gabe of Sulphur, OK, Brittany Pratt and husband Joe of Tulsa, OK, Robert Stark, Adam Stark, Josef Stark, all of Midwest City, Abigail Stark and Paisley Stark, Kassi McDaniel, all of Calera, OK, and Tracey Miller and husband Brian of Durant, OK; nineteen great-grandchildren; sister, Donna Moore of MI; along with nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph Dickson and Wilda Elizabeth (Hardin) Walden; greatgrandson, Flint Smith; brother, Bill Walden; and stepson, Jason Stark.

Casket bearers were Ronald Maxey, Jimmy Bicknell, Charles Bayles, Clarence Bayles, Trenton Owings, and Perry Scroggins.
